It stays animated. Every frame and the timing between them are preserved, so your clip plays and loops exactly like the MP4 did — just as a single image file. If you'd rather pull one still moment out of the video instead, switch the output to still WebP and use the frame picker to choose the exact frame.

Almost always, and usually by a wide margin. WebP uses far more efficient compression than GIF and supports full color, so you get a much smaller file that also looks better — no 256-color banding or dithering. For short, looping clips it's the better choice on nearly every count.

It's removed. Animated WebP is an image format and can't carry sound, so the converter drops the audio track automatically. If you need the audio to come along, convert your MP4 to WebM instead — that's a true video format with an optional sound track.
